No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky Cosmos is finally out!
The shipbreaking feature is a lot of fun. Best part of it is that the parts sell for nanites. I could never find any way of getting nanites in this game that was fun, so many parts of the game which required them were mostly locked away for me as I’d never have enough. Now, I can kinda just grind them without hating it.
Another notable feature: flying towards the star.

Not particularly useful, although it is cool that this is finally possible after 10 years.
With the addition of space bases, I was hoping to build a solar base but it seems like the star keeps moving so next time I warped to my star base, the star was nowhere near it anymore. Unfortunate.
For shipbreaking, I need to build a better corvette. Would be nice if teleporters worked on them but that seems to have been a bug since corvettes released. Teleporters are buildable but the cable doesn’t connect to them. I ended up sending a bug report but I doubt that will be picked up at all.
I still haven’t claimed a space station. I had a hard time deciding which one to work towards. Initially, I was searching around to try to find an new home star system but ultimately decided to go back to my first main home base and start claiming the space station there. I’m not there quite yet, getting local reputation is an uphill battle after I keep losing it from picking the wrong words during the practice language dialogue with random Vy’keen. I would’ve liked to do it in a Korvax system but oh well…
I still don’t know if you can own more than one space station. I would hope so, I don’t really see any reason why you wouldn’t be able to. It’s sort of like a base. But NMS does like to add arbitrary limitations to things sometimes.

Steam Frame Soon again?
Very soon for real this time?
I mentioned on 09-01 that it seems like it’s soon. Now, seems like LTT / ShortCircuit uploaded their unboxing/review of it a few days early (by mistake or on purpose?) recently and took it down shortly after…

Last time something similar happened with the Steam Controller, it released just days after ( 04-25 > Steam Controller and 05-01 > Steam Controller ).
At this point, I am kinda expecting the orders to open within the next week, maybe two weeks. Certainly by the end of September.
Who knows tbh
I sorta mentioned last time, but the price is everything for me on this one. Unfortunately, the “leaked” video does not show or mention the price at all. Presumably, the price maybe wasn’t fully confirmed to them at the time.
Other media
I’m still watching through Delicious in Dungeon. Very good show, just got halfway though it today. Just keeps getting better.

Do I try Linux again?
I still have CachyOS installed on a dualboot but I haven’t opened it in weeks. I’ll have some more free time in a week or so, maybe I’ll revisit it. As much as I want to use Linux, I kinda hate how much work it is to get basic stuff to work. Automounting drives, compatibility for software, random issues popping up from time to time. I don’t know if it’s worth all the effort…
I’ve seen a post lately saying that VR has improved on Linux over the last year. Cachy was mentioned specifically. Whilst I haven’t tried VR on Linux this year yet, maybe that will push me towards sticking with it if it works well. Although there are some nice tools like VRHandsFrame, XSOverlay, Standable, etc. Which I’m not sure work on Linux at all. So it would be a major tradeoff if I were to lose them.
Anyway
End of post for today. It’s late and I’m out of time for writing!
