A.K.A. Cool things built in the ATmosphere

If you’ve only used Bluesky, you may be unaware of the AT Protocol it’s built on. It’s the thing that makes Bluesky as a platform so open. Whilst your standard Bluesky account exists on Bluesky servers, it can be migrated to other servers (called a PDS), and you can even host your own. These can all talk to each-other through federation. The thing that makes this interesting is that it’s not just limited to social posts, you can build other projects on the AT Protocol which have the same benefits.

• Bluesky App - A decent starting point.

• Openvibe - A mixed feed of various social media platforms in one timeline, with crosspost support. Includes Bluesky, Mastodon, Tumblr, Threads, Nostr, and RSS feeds. I use this one the most outside of the official Bluesky app.

• Graysky - Nice UI but seems abandoned.

• Surf - Great for building mixed feeds across multiple networks, including Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads, YouTube, and more. Currently in invite-only beta as of March 2026.

Surprisingly, there’s several AT Proto services around sharing links / bookmarks.

• Margin - Comes with a web browser extension. Lets you annotate and leave comments anywhere on any website, and see other user’s annotations. If you have it installed, maybe you’re seeing one here now 👀.
