Backrooms Movie
I just watched the Backrooms film earlier today.
It’s quite good! I’m still thinking about it now, hours after seeing it.
I didn’t really keep up with the movie leading up to and after release. I’ve only seen the main trailer, not sure if there’s been anything more. So I wasn’t sure which direction the movie would go in. Overall, it was not quite what I expected but it is a very interesting interpretation of the backrooms. The ending was also cool.
I haven’t actually watched the Kane Pixels Backrooms series on YouTube before, so I might go back and watch that. I’m not sure how much they’re connected, though there’s one part in the movie that makes me think they’re at least somewhat connected.
The Amazing Digital Circus
I started binging this show on YouTube. I’m considering going to watch the finale in cinemas soon, but I haven’t actually watched the show itself yet. I’ve been meaning to for a long time so I’m finally getting around to it.
Still haven’t fully decided if I’ll go see it in cinema, but I kinda want to.
Quartz V5
I’ve been slowly working on migrating this website to Quartz v5. As of today, the main domain is still on v4. Even though v5 is released now, it’s still quite buggy unfortunately. I’m surprised the decision was made to release it in this state. I don’t feel confident enough
Some issues include:
- Image embeds are inconsistently broken (works in local test but not in deployment)
- mainly caused by V5 always making paths lower case but the src for the images are not lower cased so they fail to be fetched
- Base views have the aspect ratio the wrong way around (I have to make them very tall in obsidian to make them wide in quartz)
- For base images, I need the image source in the front matter to have the full path for the image, rather than it just finding the closest match like obsidian does
- Explorer in the sidebar disappears entirely when you toggle it off
- Explorer has its own like scroll bar now rather than being full height, just looks and behaves really ugly
- Had some issues with how it looks on mobile
- The font size for the site title is too small for some reason
- Obsidian themes are quite broken
I dunno, maybe some of these will be fixed. I really want to upgrade to v5 as the support for bases is really neat. But I still gotta check how it’s progressing and see if I can fix some of these myself before I’m ready to fully migrate.
For now, I’m just keeping it as a separate branch with the content being mirrored on https://v5.notes.yernemm.xyz
